In NSW primary schools, the study of a language is optional.

Language study allows students to develop communication skills, learn about languages as systems and explore the relationship between language and culture. Students engage with the linguistic and cultural diversity of societies and reflect on their understanding of social interactions.

At Waterfall Public School, we stand together acknowledging the local clans of the Dharawal speaking people who are the traditional custodians of our land. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging as we walk and work together to extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people present. We listen to their Dreaming Stories in the hopes we can share their teachings with future generations. With compassion and friendship, we embrace the connection to the land, waters, sky and animals on Country. We thank our First Nations People for letting us learn and grow on your motherland.
